Huawei’s Kirin 990

Moreover, the specialty lies in its  5G-integration. Huawei is not the first company to get a 5G capable chipset. Samsung also had 5G-integrated SoC named Exynos 980. Huawei’s Kirin 990 is the first-ever 5G-capable SoC. It will have optimized battery consumption. Also, it will utilize RAM less as compared to previous smartphones. It will have around 10.3 billion transistors. Huawei confirms that this SoC will be a part of Mate 30. The brand president of Honor declared its name V30. It will be the first smartphone to have 5G-capable SoC. The Chinese market knows it as V30. However, it is called View 30 in all other markets. Talking about Kirin 990, the 7nm Plus EUV has enabled Huawei to enhance efficiency. Kirin 990 is 12% greater Big-Core efficiency. However, the little and middle core gain 15% and 35% more, respectively.

Huawei x AI

In this era of Artificial Intelligence, Huawei is making moves too. It has Da Vinci Architecture. The quad-core NPU is embedded in this architecture. It will also help in improving efficiency and the smartphone’s performance. The same logic i.e. of traditional CPUs in the latest SoCs is applied here. It opens the door for AI computation. Big cores serve AI-related tasks. Not only this, 2 Big Cores, a tiny core configuration for the NPU comes up with 5G. Is not it great? However, if SoC does not support SoC, then there will be a tiny core setup with a single big core. We expect to see Huawei’s Kirin 990 this October. Till then, stay tuned.
